Hazel Fern , the daughter of William James and Eda Mae (Rose) Matthews and was born on July 1, 1898 in a farm house in Barry County near Lacy, Michigan (which is about 10 miles north of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Hazel, Married TRACY L HALLOCK 1-4 on ???? 19xx. Hazel and Tracy had three daughters, Bernice, Letha and Guila.

Hazel divorced Tracy about 1930 and then married ALFRED WALTER TESTER 1-4 who had immigrated to the U.S. from Crowborough, Suffex, England was born November 26, 1896 and came to the United States about 19xx. Hazel and Alfred met while Alfred was living in a boarding house on Hanover street in Battle Creek, Michigan. Hazel and Alfred were married on August 5, 1932 in Angola, Indiana.

Hazel and Alfred lived most of their married life in Marshall, Michigan where they raised their two children, Darrell and Elaine.

Alfred died on February 16, 1974 and is buried at the ???? Cemetary in ????

Hazel died on December 11, 1976 and is buried at the ???? Cemetary in Marshall, Michigan.

Mrs. Alfred W. Tester
MARSHALL - Mrs. Hazel F. (Mathews) Tester, 78, of 735 W. Union Str., died Friday in St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky. She was visiting a daughter when she was stricken.
She was born in Dowling and had lived in Marshall 40 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her huspand, Alfred W. Tester, in 1974.
Surviving are a son, Darrell Tester of Washington, Pennsyslvainia; daughters, Mrs. Danny (Elaine) Place of Lexington, Kentucky and Mrs. Earl (Bernece) Marshall of Nashville Michigan; a brother, Harold Mathews of Hastings, Michigan; sisters, Mrs. Clare (Frances) Newton and Mrs. Colon (Rosie) Hallock, both of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kelser-Farley Funeral Home.
