1960 January Marvin Earl Marshall approached this curve on a foggy road at daybreak. Traveling way too fast (about 70 MPH) and all of sudden this curve appeared. Marvin turned into curve and hit the brakes. His 1952 Mercury flew off the curve, spon 180 degrees and hit the tree high up the trunk. Location: Michigan - M-43 a few miles north of Richland, Michigan. Photo taken by Marvin Sept 2, 2009 See next photo.... |

1960 January Marvin Earl Marshall No photo of the car remains, however ater nearly 50 years, the tree bares the scars of the collision. Only way Marvin and 2 other front seat passenger survived, was that the car hit the tree squarely at the rear-end. It squashed the back of the car so that the tree trunk was close to the back seat. |

|||
2003 January 7 Here is a very funny story about it. There was only about 25 people there and I wanted to Robyn to get a photo of me shaking hands with the President if I got the chance. While we waited in line to do so, I was NEXT to shake his hand a chat with him when Robyn starts tappiing me repeatedly on the shoulder. I, in discust of her continued tapping and afraid I would miss my chance if I looked away, finally turned around to see what was so important. Robyn said, "This lady keeps bothering me wanting to talk". I said, "Oh yes, oh well talk to her". It was Roselyn Carter who was wanting to chat with Robyn and Robyn was trying to get rid of her!!! I then shook hands with the President while Robyn and Rosnlyn chatted and only got a close up photo of President carter shaking hands with someone else. |
