Jack, son of Ellsworth 'Worth' and Beulah Arloa (Marshall) Green was born on December 14, 1936 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan.. Jack married SUSANNE SULLIVAN 1-6. She was born in Lima Ohio, on October 24, 1937. Susanne had 2 children from a previous marriage, James W. Hoffman and Carrie E. Hoffman. Susanne died on May 8, 2005 at the age of 67. Jack Curtis Green died on November 17, 2011 at the age of 74, just a few days short of his 75th birthday, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Jack grew up on his parents home on Barryville Road, Nashville, Michigan. Jack had one brother Marshall E. Green. Jack attened the one room Moore School on Barryville Road from K-6, and attended W.K.Kellogg Public School 7-12. Jack was class president for four years and archive in non-sporting activities. He worked at the Douse Drug Store and on the family farm while in high school. He enrolled at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo in 1955 and earned his BS degree in education in 1959. During the summers in 1964 he worked in the Kellogg factory in Battle Creek, Michigan. Jack graduated in 1964 from Western Michigan University with a Masters degree in counseling.
In 1959, Jack began teaching English and Social Studies in the 7th and 8th grades for the Hastings Area Schools. He taught there for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He worked part time for the Girrbach Funeral Home from 1998 until 2006, He loved teaching 7th and 8th graders and continued to be interested in education until he died. Jack was active at the E.U.B. Church (Hope United Methodist) from 1970-1990. In April of 1970, Jack and Susanne Sullivan were united in Marriage. They had a wonderful marriage for 35 years. They enjoyed their three children, Jim Carrie and Blake and their grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in Death by his parents, brother and wife Susanne. Jack is survived by his children Jim (Cindy) Hoffman, Carrie Hoffman and Blake Green and grandchildren: Kristin, Chase, Alex, Chad, Jack Henry, Cassandra, Zachary, Kaylee and Noah and --> Special Dobie, Gandy ,<--needs checking.
